The Beaufort Memorial Birthing Center has supported Lowcountry families with comprehensive prenatal and newborn care. We’re home to Beaufort and Jasper counties’ only Level II nursery and a team of skilled, board-certified OB/GYN specialists.

As part of our mission to provide safe, fulfilling birth experiences, we’re in the midst of a $6 million investment in Birthing Center enhancements and amenities for expecting mothers, including:

  • mobile fetal monitoring during labor
  • a lactation support team led by a certified lactation consultant
  • 24/7 support line for breastfeeding, newborn care or postpartum questions

See why we’ve been the first choice of Beaufort families for more than 70 years.

Birthing Center Tours — Once construction is complete, you’ll want to see our beautiful birthing suites for yourself. Please arrive in the Birthing Center lobby a few minutes before the tour starts and only bring children age 14 and older.

Childbirth Education — Our Baby University offers a range of classes to help parents prepare for pregnancy and infancy milestones including childbirth, newborn care, and breastfeeding.

Support — The lactation team is available to coach and assist during breastfeeding. Once you’re home, they’re still available to answer questions via the 24/7 warm line at 843-522-5147.

What to Expect — Prepare for your hospital stay long before labor begins. We can help you fill out preadmission paperwork, decipher insurance requirements, or provide financial counseling.

Bedside Registration — When it comes time to deliver your baby, there is no need for you to stop at the hospital admissions desk. Our labor and delivery nursing team will handle registration for you at your bedside. Please be sure to bring your insurance and/or Medicaid card, and an identification card that includes your photo.

Insurance — Don’t forget to notify your insurance company of your upcoming birth as soon as possible to comply with any precertification requirements. Then, contact them again within two days of delivery to add your child to your insurance plan.

Paternity — Establish your child’s biological father as his or her legal father, too.
